1. The act of obsecrating or imploring; as, the obsecrations
   of the Litany, being those clauses beginning with ``By.''
   --Bp. Stillingfeet. --Shipley.

2. (Rhet.) A figure of speech in which the orator implores
   the assistance of God or man.
